very inspirational book

I love this book! Well done and very inspirational, just like you'd expect from Jim Rohn. I recently started reviewing a lot of this material and this is one of my favorites. Had the pleasure of seeing him a few years ago, before his death, and the same motivating spirit that he gave in his live talks is here. If you have enjoyed him live, you will love this. It's a wonderful example of his legacy to self-development.

Lessons on Life by Jim Rohn

The reason for the one star is that I believe the book is a rip off. I have been a Jim Rohn fan since April 13, 1994. I have attended several of his seminars and I have four cassette tape seminars that he was selling back then plus I have all of his books. This is basically a booklet of quotes from those seminars. Each page contains art work with one of his quotes. If you have his book "The Treasury of Quotes" you don't need this book. Of course if you like pictures of trees, water, people, childern turning flips and of the sun setting you may like it. The book also contains a DVD as a bonus.

Good information from a master just not a lot of it. Only one thought to a page & then not on every page. Not my idea of a book. more like a collection of good sayings. They have meaning and valuable messages but whole book could have been written on ten pages.

Enjoyable book for advanced pianist

Book was 5 days later then I was told it would be. Amazon is usually much better about being on time. There are a lot of great songs in the book and being a very advanced pianist I can sight thru the majority and have found some to play for Preludes at Church that wont require any practice time. Not sure most of them would be right length for an Offertory. If your advanced at all, you will zip right thru and really enjoy most of the songs. Again several are pretty short in duration.

About the Author
Pamela Paxton is Professor of Sociology and Government and Christine and Stanley E. Adams, Jr. Centennial Professor in the Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Economics and Sociology and her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has taught at the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) Summer Training Program in Advanced Statistical Techniques and has consulted for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). She is the author of articles and books on prosocial behavior, women in politics, and quantitative methodology. She lives with her husband, Paul von Hippel, in Austin, Texas.

Melanie M. Hughes is a Ph.D. student in Sociology at Ohio State University. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2001 with a degree in Sociology and Government. After coming to Ohio State in 2002, she wrote a master’s thesis investigating new explanations for women’s parliamentary representation in developing countries. She has also researched the lasting impact of colonialism on women’s parliamentary representation. She has won multiple university awards, has presented her work on women in politics at several conferences, and has a number of articles forthcoming in journals such as American Sociological Review and the Annual Review of Sociology. Currently, she is working on her dissertation, which looks at intersectionality through the representation of minority women in national legislatures around the world.

An easy read, full of information

This book was eye-opening and interesting. This is a book you can read for your own enrichment without the need of a professor to explain it. I read this book for a gender studies class, and I loved it. It was nice to have major deffinitions written bold in the text. and instead of keeping relevent stories in the text and rambling on, they are placed in their own boxes which make it more fun to read and easier to grasp the realavence of the topics discussed. The table of contents does a good job of explaining the different sections; if you want to find something quickly its all right there. I like how she keeps to the facts and doesn't push her views, but its hard to see another side to these issues becasue she does a good job proving her points. I also had to read Gender Inequality by Judith Lorber... it was full of info, but a difficult read. Both books work nicely together. but its impossible to read Lorber without a professor to explain what it all means.
