A great aid for the Sims

Prima's official strategy guide offers a lot of insights in playing the Sims game. Picking up right where the game book leaves off, this guide adds onto the game playing strategy without overlapping.
There are codes to help with certain tasks, full breakdowns of the careers, match-ups of personalities, details on how each item effects the Sims overall attributes, etc.
Highly recommended.

A very cool and Interesting Insight into playing the Sims!

The Sims (Prima's Official Strategy Guide) Is very cool and interesting! I've only had and played The Sims for about a year or two,so I'm a fairly new player, and since I'm not Interested In regular hard competitive computer or video games I'm not that good at It.But I still love The Sims cause It's a unique and fun alternative to video games for people who can't master the video games, because while you like to win or do good It's not required to thoroughly enjoy It like other games. It's actually really funny when you do bad and see what happens,because sometimes the game tends to sort of have a mind of it's own,or just does the unexpected,without you making It do It. It's funny to see fake computer game characters react or do things like they would In real life, as If they were real. Like panic and scream when there is a fire or grieve when someone dies. My Sim's made mistakes like lost jobs,money,and confidence, accidentally starved a pet to death,and been so anti-social, that they can't have friend's,spouses, or children. I will try to try some of these tips. Some of the basic tips where you type In a link to control game basics not your specific characters seem harder or not as big a deal, but some of madeup Ideas to help your Sims be rich and successful are funny. Like making separate from your main family a couple single Sims being homeless and having no house just a job and the basic essentials just so your main family can marry them later and take their money Is funny. Or If your family wants to live on a deserted Island by themselves and don't want neighbors to come visit them and bug them the Idea of building a pool or moat around your house where they have to go In the pool to get In the house and taking the ladders out so they drowned and can't come to your house anymore. Anyways it's a really fun and interesting to read if you like the sims, even if you don't use their strategies to get better.

Okay help, but not the best...

We became addicted to the SIMS game as soon as we got it, and eventually knew we needed to learn to understand our little people a lot better.
This book helped, but it isn't fantastic. Much of what you'll find in here you can find at the SIMS home page, and some you'll figure out by yourself, through trial-and-error. Some is common sense (before making any major change, SAVE your work so you can always go back).
It offers some things, but omits others. For example, it gives a handy chart for skill levels needed to get promotions - what is missing is how to do what is hardest, develop and maintain friends, since having a lot of friends is both required for a lot of the SIMS to 'get ahead' AND is extremely difficult to do!
Some of the cheats are OK, but the best ones you'll find through other sources.
For SIMS beginners (perhaps as a gift for someone who just got the game), or those who can't get on-line, this would be helpful. For those who have been playing for awhile, or are on-line, this book would probably be a disappointment.

Christopher Cuttle, MA, FCIBSE, FIESANZ, FIESNA, FSLL, is a lighting designer, educator, and author who lives in New Zealand. He gained broad experience of lighting in the UK before taking up academic positions in New Zealand (Senior Lecturer in schools of architecture in Wellington and Auckland) and in the USA (Head of Graduate Education in Lighting at the Lighting Research Center, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York). His books Lighting by Design (2003, 2nd edition 2008), and Light for Art’s Sake (2007), are both published by Routledge.

A solid textbook!

I'm not gonna lie... I love this textbook. My class had an electronic copy of the book but I ordered one myself simply because I like to have a physical textbook (I know, I'm a little old school). After the class has finished, I still pick this thing up to read through it to give myself a better understanding of the physical world! I would even go so far as to recommend it to anyone wanting a book to learn physics in their free time.

Parts of the old metaphor actually survived beyond 1550, but alternative models of social humanist thought challenged the body concept in the period, advancing a novel paradigm of merit, mobility, and wealth. The book’s methodology focuses on the intellectual context of a variety of contemporary texts.

Great resource for vascular trainees

Although daunting to start with, this is a comprehensive and easy to read reference for vascular surgery. A must have for all current and aspiring vascular trainees, or even part-timers who have a keen interest in this expanding field.

For an aspiring trainee such as myself, it has been difficult to find such an up to date reference that covers the background to difficult subjects like basic sciences and fundamentals to endovascular surgery, as well as in depth discussions on other vascular staples like carotids, chronic limb ischaemia etc.

Although initially worried about the size and cost, am DEFINITELY glad that I took the plunge and bought this for myself.

The book covers the whole spectrum of vascular surgery. The chapters are well written and nicely illustrated. The refereces are up to date. Every surgeon who is involved in the management of patients with vascular diseases would find this book an outstanding source of knowledge. Vascular surgeons in training must buy and read this great book. The established vascular surgeon would welcome this book as a comprehensive reference. This book is highly recommended. Captivating, Detailed, and Well-Written Biography of the Legendary Stevie Nicks

Being a longtime fan of Stevie and Fleetwood Mac and having read many books about her, this one is by far the most captivating and detailed! I liked how the author showcased the contrasting sides of Stevie’s personality via her life stories: the energetic front woman of one of the biggest bands in history and the shy and vulnerable woman who despite her many accomplishments still questions her musical talents. The author utilizes many interviews with Stevie and those who were closest to her at various parts of her life including Fleetwood Mac members, album producers, and friends, to provide the full story from childhood to present day. The photos of Stevie through the years were awesome because many of them I had never seen.

I was thrilled to read new and fresh information about Stevie I hadn't known, including details of her multiyear stint with Lindsey in the band Fritz, the formation of Buckingham Nicks, her embarrassment over their only album cover, and how they joined Fleetwood Mac. Any fan of Fleetwood Mac, especially during the “Rumours” era knows about the turbulent relationship of Stevie and Lindsey, but this book details the sources of the tension, including excessive drug use, Lindsey’s controlling tendencies and harsh critiques of Stevie’s songs, and even their competitiveness with each other, which the author highlighted with a story of Lindsey imitating Stevie and becoming violent onstage with her during a “Tusk” tour concert.

All of the behind the scenes details of her solo albums, her extensive collaborations with Tom Petty and Jimmy Iovine, and her heartbreaks over her love affairs with Mick Fleetwood, Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and her short but doomed marriage to Kim Anderson were fascinating. Stevie’s decade long struggle with cocaine and later her Klonopin addiction were quite riveting to read about too. The book takes us through the many Fleetwood Mac reunions and late 1980s and 1990s line up changes until their current “On With the Show” tour.

Lastly, I enjoyed that the author provided details of the inspirations behind most of the songs Stevie has written for Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. One interesting example is the song “Sara” from the “Tusk” album, which was about her affair with Mick Fleetwood, her friend Sara who Mick fell in love with, and the baby she aborted. Overall, this book is extremely well written, hard to put down, and offers a well-rounded perspective on the life and career of the legendary Stevie Nicks. If you’re a fan of Stevie and/or Fleetwood Mac, this is a must read!

Not bad but nothing exceptional!

A decent read, however I knew already many of the things posted in this book. I think the author may have wanted to beat Stephen Davis to the press by getting this out before his bio of Ms. Nicks is released in October of this year.
There wasn't anything earth shattering about this book that warrants 5 stars. I actually didn't finish it there were about 4 chapters I just stopped reading due to already knowing what was going to be said.
When reading a celebrity bio a reader wants the meat and potatoes, the unknown facts of a famous person's life and work, so while not an awful read, hey at least she can spell which is an exception on kindle these days and I'm very serious when I say that. I try to be fair regarding book reviews and while Zoe Howe obviously did investigate Ms. Nicks life it felt rushed and did not have the depth one would want in a bio, especially since Stevie Nicks will probably never write her own life story.
In this book Stevie comes across as selfish, narcissistic, and the typical me, me, me that many famous people end up believing in their own hype. I at times found myself not liking Stevie Nicks the person and I am a huge fan of hers.
There is a part in this book where Stevie tells one of the (I believe producer/sound engineers) that she was happy his dog died because his dog was the one featured on the Tusk cover because according to Stevie Nicks that should of been her cover, not cool if true and extremely telling of the personality.
I liked Carol Ann Harris book much better. I found out things I didn't know about Ms. Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. There simply was not enough details in this book to keep me entertained and while I did appreciate the sense of humor that went into this book added by the author's perceptive most of what was written about regarding Ms. Nicks life, Stevie has talked of in interviews and has already been written about.
If you're a new fan this book will serve you well, older fans who already know the Stevie-Lindsey love hate etc. etc. with tons of filler I'd say wait for Davis book.

A friend of mine told me about the book so I just had to order it. It was way better than I thought it would be. Such interesting...not out in the public...info in the book! So many little secrets. Loved it!

Using a series of case studies running the gamut from�Kony 2012 to the life and times of Jackass star Bam Margera, Ruddock discusses how and why youth media studies matter, how it should be studied, and what we can learn from the findings. The book covers the influence and effect of media on youth in several contexts; in addition to the examples already mentioned, he covers the Ryan Florence and David Cameron incident, Insane Clown Posse and censorship, the Columbine high school shootings, child soldiers, and much more. The book does provide a good introductory discussion of a variety of key topics in the study of youth and the media, and does an excellent job of revealing the complexity of the relationship between youth and the media.

Throughout his ten chapters Ruddock frames his discussion in a recurring cyclical figure that flows in the following cycle: Research Question, Underlying issue about media influence, Relevant literature, Exemplifying case study, Outcomes, and Lesson for understanding media influence. This consistency in presentation is a strength of the book, adding some structure to a large and varied subject matter. This is a particularly good structure for students, Ruddock’s intended audience...Youth and Media is a good introductory text on the subject and students of media, sociology and violence will find it an excellent place to start. About the Author
Andy Ruddock researches, writes and teaches about media audiences, youth and the politics of popular culture. He is the author of three books: Understanding Audiences, Investigating Audiences and Youth and Media; all 3 titles are with SAGE Publications.

He has been published in several media studies anthologies and scholarly journals, on topics including media violence, political celebrity, school shootings, reality television, alcohol marketing and health campaigning, media sport, mass communication theory and media research methods. Works in progress include pieces on subculture and pornography. He is perhaps best known for his work on cultivation theory.

Educated at Caius College, Cambridge, Penn State University and the University of Massachusetts, where his work was supervised by Michael Morgan, Sut Jhally and Justin Lewis, he has taught at universities in the US, the UK, New Zealand and South Korea. He regularly provides expert commentary on media issues, writing frequently for theconversation.edu.

This book is a great read.

I received and autographed copy of this book by the author earlier this year. It is a great book for investors that are new to NNN commercial real estate. This is a great book that will give you invaluable information in the steps that are needed to successfully invest in commercial real estate. The book will explain to the readers why NNN real estate is a great way to attain financial freedom, the importance of having quality relationships in the real estate investing field. The book also goes into what 1031 exchange is. This book is a must have for new commercial real estate investors.

Good low cost intro book but no depth when it comes to deal evaluation.

Even though I gave it only 3 stars, I bought extra copies since the book cost so little and I gave those copies to other members of my family.
The book is a good intro to NNN and provides good legal ramifications, good 1031 exchange rules explanation.
However when it comes to what I think is the most important part in such NNN purchases and that is how to evaluate NNN properties and property types such as food, drugs, thrift shop etc, there is no exposition.
The book tells you to rely on a good broker for such advice. Good luck.

!A must read if you are looking to sleep well at night

My husband and I were concerned about the lackluster performance of our portfolio and have been searching for ways to assure a comfortable retirement. We came across Alan's book this past spring, and I am thrilled to report that after following the advice laid out (in terms we could understand) we closed yesterday on a NNN property and are free of the worry from market fluctuation. Every person we dealt with from finding the right property, to the initial steps and all the way through to closing the transaction were professional, patient, and extremely helpful. Being able to talk with Alan was a huge plus for us as well. This is a solid book for anyone who wants to sleep well at night!
