Hey everyone,
If you know me and know my music, my style and the amount of effort that I go through to give props where props are due then you know I take my music seriously. So, I'm writing this for anyone that is curious as well as for those that are either professional music producers or rookies just getting into the music scene.
Of all the books, PDF's and websites such as MusicGoat postings {which are awesome BTW} that I have read to help productions, none of them have encompassed as much in one solid place and in such an easy way as Shaun Friedman's "FL Studio Cookbook". Now, I've read many books including having purchased the Official "FL Studio Bible" but none have come close to how in-depth Shaun Friedman comes in explaining the details of creating your music masterpiece as the FL Studio Cookbook. Shaun explains everything in crucially specific detail that even music hobbyists can find something that can help them sound amazing.
Shaun starts with showing you how to create the ideal set-up for efficiency as well as for promoting the most creativity. He then leads straight into installation which is crazy because not many tutorial books actually teach you how to install AND then manipulate the directory folders so that you can use the most out of your library set-up. This is extremely helpful because I took over a year to organize over 500GBs of little sound bites that I have accumulated online. Having a strong and customized library of sounds if crucial to a music producer. You need to know where each sound is at any given point and Shaun points out the importance of this strongly.
The next important addition that Shaun covers that I haven't really found anywhere else is the amazing detail in each and every aspect of FL Studio that Shaun covers. He covers each and every button, tab and slider. If you entered the music scene and knew nothing of how to work FL Studio let alone what a DAW is then you would learn so much about effects and other aspects of music production that are transcendent across all types of DAW's. Shaun actually shows you what each aspect of FL Studio is and what effect it provides so that even if you use it as a reference then you will always find some help in the book even if you're a pro or a newbie.
Overall. I would recommend the book for anyone that has an interest in music production as a profession or as a hobby. It's full of everything that FL Studio should come with out of the box. In fact, the FL Studio Cookbook is the tutorial that should come with FL Studio once you buy it. I guarantee that you will either learn something new with the book or at least learn how to do something easier than how you're used to doing something in an elaborate DAW such as FL Studio. I honestly wish I had the FL Studio Cookbook when I started music let alone when I started playing with something as complicated and truly intimidating as FL Studio.

myriad recording abilities

The audio editing options in FL Studio are myriad. The book starts with detailed examples at the physical level, showing how to connect sundry hardware to your computer. The latter is taken to be a Dell laptop running Microsoft Windows. The external hardware includes a MIDI keyboard, headphones and monitors or speakers. While the MIDI keyboard might seem redundant, since the laptop has its own keyboard, in practice many audiophiles want this. Several MIDI keyboards provide a different and more intuitive physical user interface, with knobs, pads, sliders or touchscreens. Essentially, the tactile and often pure analog ways may let you more smoothly glide into your editing needs.
The many figures in the text show cases of instances like virtual instruments. FL Studio provides you, the composer, with a standard orchestra of instrumental sounds. But FL Studio goes beyond that. Options are furnished to experiment with novel audio effects. The plethora of parameters gives an effectively infinite space where you can tweak your recordings indefinitely. Which actually can be a danger of FL Studio. Part of your experience with it is developing an intuition of when to call halt and simply fix a final version.
The text also provide basic advice on composing the soundtrack. Like defining the drums and rhythm. This usually sets the basic feel of your song. After which you can insert the other instruments.
Naturally, the software also has a standard means of showing the sonograms and other music patterns. If you have used other recording programs, much of this will already be familiar.

I'm sure that some might think that the better text would be FL Studio Bible published via Image-Line ...

This text does cover the basics of starting the voyage into FL Studio. I discovered after this arrived that the cost through Amazon is 20% more that through the publisher's site. I'm sure that some might think that the better text would be FL Studio Bible published via Image-Line through Lulu. However, it is more of a detailed technical user manual, whereas this is laid out as a introductory tutorial. It would be great is someone would combine the tutorial aspects of this type of text with using Image-Line effects and accompanying products (e.g., Harmor, Harmless, Reverb, Newtone, etc.,) to create a handful of different musical compositions, including mixing and mastering those songs to completion. That would be awesome! Maybe I should start, huh?!
