I can see this book being used as a bible by qualitative researchers keen on maximising the benefits that NVivo can offer. It is also likely to act as a frequent refresher resource for more experienced NVivo users, myself most definitely included. (Andrew Edwards-Jones Journal of Education for Teaching)
About the Author
Pat Bazeley was awarded a PhD in community psychology for an action research based thesis which argued that community development was an effective strategy for the promotion of mental health in a disadvantaged population. After graduating she worked in community development and as a freelance researcher, undertaking projects in public health, welfare, education, law and community studies. From 1991-9 she was responsible for research development and administration for academic staff at the University of Western Sydney, Macarthur. Currently, she is a (very) part time Associate Professor in the Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity at the University of New South Wales, supervising PhD students.
From 2000-2013 Pat provided research training, consulting and retreat facilities for researchers at Bowral, in the southern highlands of NSW. She continues to provide occasional training and consulting services for academics, graduate students and practitioners in universities, government departments and commercial organisations both locally and internationally. Her particular expertise is in helping researchers to make sense of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods data and in using computer programs for management and analysis of data. Her passion is to help people move beyond simple descriptive analyses of rich data.
Pat has a particular interest in mixed methods research, where she is exploring tools and techniques for integrating analyses of different forms of data, and the methodological implications of doing so. She was 2015-16 President of the Mixed Methods International Research Association. Pat is currently on the Editorial Boards for the Journal of Mixed Methods Research and Qualitative Health Research, having served in the past as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Mixed Methods Research. She has published books, chapters and articles on qualitative and mixed methods data analysis. She has also published on immunisation services, and on the career development and performance of researchers.
Kristi Jackson has a Masters of Education degree from the University of Vermont and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education from the University of Colorado. She began using qualitative data analysis software in 1993, has been an expert and trainer of the QSR software (NUD*IST and NVivo) since 1996, became Vice President of an evaluation firm in Denver in 1999, and established Queri in 2002. She spends a third of her time collecting data for evaluation research projects (primarily in education and health), a third of her time using NVivo to analyze data, and a third of her time consulting with (and training) other researchers. Along with Pat Bazeley, she co-authored the most recent Sage book on Qualitative Data Analysis with NVivo, and she is a principal organizer of the Digital Tools strand at the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry. Her current research interests include conceptualizations of “transparency” in the qualitative research process, particularly among doctoral students and their dissertation committees.

A must have resource for qualitative data analysis with NVivo10

This book was worth waiting for! I purchased Dr. Bazeley's two other books on qualitative data analysis and by far this version brings you into the new version of NVivo 10. What I like most about this book is its "down to earth" reading level and "hands-on" approach that facilitates the understanding and use of a sometimes intimidating software. It uses step by step instructions for the use of the software while providing the support structure for the preparation to discover or match theories for qualitative data collection and analysis. This book makes the writing of chapters 4 & 5 of your dissertation more manageable and less stressful. A must have for graduate and post-graduate students who have chosen the qualitative research method for their thesis or dissertation.

User-friendly, step-by-step instructions for using NVivo to do qualitative data analysis

This book provides exactly the kind of user-friendly step-by-step instructions I needed. It would have been nice to have the few essentials for my simple study (coding interview transcripts) in one place, though. Eventually I realized only portions of the introductory chapters plus Chapters 4 (Coding) and 5 (Nodes) were what I needed to get started. I may use Chapter 10 (visualizing data) in the reporting stage. The book is easy to understand and well written.

Informative...but not for Nvivo for MAC

This book is informative to organize, store, and analyze data. What I didn't realize is that many of the applications that are written do not apply to the Nvivo for MAC version. If you have a Nvivo for Mac and still learning Nvivo, I would suggest purchasing another book. Unfortunately, I bought the Kindle version so I can't sell my copy.
