About the Author
Eve Honthaner has been working in the entertainment industry in the field of production management for many years. Some of her credits include: Titanic, Just Married, Joy Ride and In Dreams. In addition to teaching at USC's Summer Program, she's been an instructor at The International Film & TV Workshops in Rockport, Maine and she is the founder of the Los Angeles-based networking organization Film Industry Network.

This is AWESOME BOOK. If you looking for complete handbook, Check this out. I went to film school, i work in film industry and i have TONS of production books but noting came close to this one. But again book is book. You lean more when you do it but this is a guide line that very helpful. I bought one for myself and one for my friend. I think if you have limit budget, get this book.

Essential, especially for indie filmmakers!

Essential resource for so many types and levels of filmmakers! You'll want this book just for the loads of industry forms alone. (Note, the online location of the downloadable forms has moved, so you'll have to hunt around, but they're all there!)
It doesn't matter if you're a newbie without any training, an old hand moving into doing your own productions, or even just helping somebody out as an assistant, the huge and comprehensive amount of industry information in this book is incredibly valuable. It discusses what everybody's job is (or is supposed to be!); tips and checklists for how to set up a pre-production office so you don't forget anything; war stories and ideas for how to help filming go more smoothly, how TV differs from film; special considerations for indie film and new media; and tons more.
I recommend it to pretty much everybody, but especially small/indie/new filmmakers who want to stay organized and better understand the big picture, especially if you've never been an executive producer, director, or line producer before.

This is a guide of use for any producer of films. I need to get the CD for this book, with CD's production plans for areas without internet will still be great. I love reading this material. The author has written it so well that every single section of the book opened by me has led to reading even though I'm not done with previous sections. Every word of information is valuable as guidance for production office managers and business production development. This version is a little older, but it's still a very valuable tool for planning and organizing the business behind the artistry of film production. Of course a more modern version is necessary with the variations of unions and laws that happen consistently. The paperwork in this book works in conjunction with the paperwork of Film Production Management 101-2nd edition: Management & Coordination in a Digital Age and Getting it Done: The Ultimate Production Assistant Guide.
